The project collected two international awards and one Honourable Mention, standing out as one of the most celebrated entries of the event. <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>The three distinctions awarded were:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Winner \u2013 The Best Use of Timber<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Winner \u2013 Production, Energy &amp; Logistics<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Honourable Mention \u2013 Best Use of Natural Light<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p>Among these accolades, the \u201cBest Use of Timber\u201d award stands out in particular, recognising excellence in the use of timber as a central element of the project. This distinction is especially significant for PORTILAME, which was responsible for the engineering design and construction of the timber structure, ensuring technical precision, construction quality and the architectural expression of the winery. <\/p>\n\n<p>The WAF international jury praised the exemplary way wood was used throughout the building, commending \u201cthe highly successful reinterpretation of historical and regional vernacular timber forms, responding sensitively to the site\u2019s topography and context.\u201d The use of timber was further highlighted for its ability to create \u201can inspiring, almost chapel-like atmosphere,\u201d transforming the winery into a unique architectural experience. <\/p>\n\n<p>The <strong><em>\u201cProduction, Energy &amp; Logistics\u201d<\/em><\/strong> award recognises the building\u2019s functional performance and efficiency, while the Honourable Mention in <strong><em>\u201cBest Use of Natural Light\u201d <\/em><\/strong>emphasises the project\u2019s mastery in harnessing natural light to enrich the interior spaces and strengthen the connection to the Douro landscape.<br\/><\/p>\n\n<p>For PORTILAME, the <strong><em>\u201cBest Use of Timber\u201d<\/em><\/strong> award represents an international validation of its commitment to innovation, technical quality, and excellence in timber construction, showcasing the company\u2019s ability to integrate advanced structural solutions into highly demanding architectural projects.<\/p>\n\n<p>The World Architecture Festival is regarded as the world\u2019s leading event dedicated to contemporary architecture, bringing together hundreds of projects from more than 60 countries each year. Its unique live judging methodology reinforces the rigour and prestige associated with the awards presented.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped
