PORTILAME today signed an investment contract with the Municipality of Viana do Castelo worth more than 8 million euros, reinforcing its strategic commitment to innovation, sustainability and industrialisation in the modular wood construction sector.
The project, called “Hybrid Modular Wood-Based Products and Solutions”, is part of the R2U Technologies, agenda, funded by the PRR – Recovery and Resilience Plan. With the creation of new jobs, PORTILAME is also reinforcing its commitment to the economic and social development of the municipality.
With industrial units in Neiva and Vila Fria, PORTILAME has consolidated a solid presence in the market through integrated solutions in the areas of Design and Project, Construction and Wood Structures, specialising in demanding segments such as luxury housing, residential, hotels e restaurants. Combining experience in the development of complex projects with technical capacity in the execution of advanced construction systems, it has positioned itself as a strategic partner in sustainable and industrialised solutions. This new investment reinforces PORTILAME’s mission to lead the transformation of the sector, based on efficiency, innovation and environmental responsibility.
Wood construction is, by nature, a sustainable and environmentally friendly practice. The use of this renewable material significantly reduces the carbon footprint of the construction sector, while contributing to the capture and storage of CO₂ throughout the life cycle of buildings. Wood combines low energy consumption with high thermal efficiency, allowing PORTILAME to promote more sustainable, responsible construction in line with the decarbonisation of the economy.
The central objective of the project is the development and industrial production of a new modular construction system that integrates hybrid products and subsystems derived from wood.
The project will enable the advancement of three major product lines:
- Linear construction system with prefabricated structural components;
- VEIA® Timber-Frame system, with wall and floor panels;
- VEIA® modular system in wood, with prefabricated 3D modules.
