PORTILAME took part in TimberWorQs 2026, the annual seminar dedicated to timber construction, held on February 11 and 12 at the Congress Center of LNEC in Lisbon. The event brings together professionals and institutions from across the sector to discuss architecture, engineering and sustainability.
Our participation focused on two key moments of the program: the Business Marketing session, which opened the event, and the roundtable discussion on innovation in construction, where trends, challenges and pathways to accelerate the adoption of industrialized timber systems in Portugal were explored.
Business Marketing Session: communicating value in a transforming sector
During the marketing session, PORTILAME presented its business with the participation of José Esteves, Commercial Director, highlighting the importance of positioning timber construction as a concrete response to current market demands: speed, predictability, quality and sustainability, reinforcing the need for clear communication based on performance, engineering and confidence in execution.
Roundtable: innovation in construction
At the roundtable on innovation, João Veloso, General Director of Innovation and R&D, shared his vision on how innovation should translate into repeatable processes, greater control and predictability, reducing risk and improvisation while enhancing final quality. This approach is in line with the work carried out by our Innovation and R&D department, which transforms knowledge into construction methods, systems and solutions, reinforcing efficiency and control.
Among the topics highlighted were:
• the growth of off-site and industrialized solutions as a response to the need to reduce timelines, increase predictability and improve quality control;
• the evolution from the prefabrication of components (1D) to panels (2D) and modules (3D), with modularity and flexibility as guiding principles to scale solutions without losing the ability to adapt to each project;
• the importance of prototyping and technical validation, as well as collaboration with leading institutions, to accelerate the robustness and maturity of construction solutions.
Timber construction: an increasingly present reality
Participation in TimberWorQs reinforces PORTILAME’s ambition to actively contribute to the evolution of the sector in Portugal, promoting a more industrialized, more predictable and more scalable timber construction approach, capable of responding to current market needs and the sector’s sustainability goals.
TimberWorQs stands out as a key platform for debate and knowledge sharing, organized by institutions such as SerQ, LNEC and the University of Coimbra, with a program focused on knowledge creation, the dissemination of best practices and the promotion of innovation in a rapidly growing field.
