PORTILAME promotes landmark event to discuss wood construction in Portugal

At PORTILAME, we lead the way in wood construction in Portugal, and on January 23, 2025, we presented our new image at an event that brought together industry experts, authorities and strategic partners at the Feel Viana Sport Hotel. Over two decades, we have made a name for ourselves in the sector, recording an average annual growth of 40% in turnover over the last two years, consolidating our position as a benchmark in the domestic market. In 2025, it will be no different, and we expect a turnover of around 25 million euros.

With our new management structure, we are making a significant investment in a new industrial production line for wooden structural elements (façades, slabs and pillars), which will give us the capacity to respond to the demanding and growing demands of the market. We have also set up a department entirely dedicated to R&D.

The event, held on 23 January 2025, focused on innovation, sustainability and the industrialization of wood construction, which were central themes in the discussions and debates that marked the agenda.

The morning was dedicated to an internal session where we creatively rethought PORTILAME’s 2025 strategy aligned with the CONVERGENCE of ideas based on innovation and sustainability, highlighting the importance of industrialized wood construction in the construction sector.

In the afternoon, we opened up space for panels dedicated to all stakeholders, addressing the future challenges for timber construction in Portugal, and we would like to thank all the speakers present: Jorge Branco (UMINHO), Marco Silva (HOMAG), Ricardo Braz (ROTHOBLAAS), José Sampaio (FEELVIANA), Luis Nobre (CMVC), Jorge Van Krieken (GREEN HERITAGE), António Curado (IPVC), Benjamim Pereira (PRESIDENT IHRU) and Vitor Poças (AIMMP).

During the event, we highlighted the advantages of industrialized wood construction, both for the construction industry and for the built environment. We discussed the efficiency gains, shorter delivery times and improved working conditions for our employees made possible by the industrialization and production of building components.

We also talked about the strong impact on decarbonization resulting from the commitment to the use of new technologies and materials, and reinforced the importance of sustainable forest management policies to guarantee the availability of quality raw materials for construction.

Another key point was the need to attract young people to the sector, showing the new technologies and materials involved, and the importance of adapting academic and professional training to the new demands of the market.

We were honored to have the participation of the Mayor of Viana do Castelo, who highlighted the importance of PORTILAME for the local economy and for attracting investment to the municipality.

We ended the session with the presentation of our new brand identity, developed by Ofício Collective, which reinforces our commitment to innovation and sustainability in wood construction.
