PORTILAME brings the beauty of wood to Cabedelo Beach

madeira

The Support Centre for Sports Practice at Cabedelo Beach, with architecture by Branco Cavaleiro Architects and construction by PORTILAME, is inserted in the Spatial Plan of the Coastal Zone of Caminha – Espinho.

Wood was the chosen material for this simple and functional work, but fundamental for the affirmation of nautical sports, in this case, kitesurf, windsurf and surf, in Viana do Castelo.

The structure rises from the dune system and materialises in a construction enveloped by a system of vertical slats. It is made up of three volumes with different functions and which, simultaneously, through different heights and inclinations, help to protect the outside areas from the incidence of the wind.

The first volume, to the north, houses the bar area (minimum support) and the roof terrace; the central volume contains the storage area and the medical post; the third volume, to the south, contains the changing rooms and storage areas.

The work follows minimalist lines and, due to the use of wood, blends into the landscape and respects the nature around it.
